Value of Tourism
According to recent research carried out by the East of England Tourism the total direct spend in 2006 by day and staying visitors to Suffolk was worth £1.08 billion to Suffolk's economy
Staying visitor spend is estimated as £323 million split between UK visitors (£262.5 million) and overseas visitors (£60.5 million)
It is estimated that day visitor spend amounts to £756 million
Volume of Tourism
The total number staying visitors is estimated as 2 million split between UK (1.8 million) and overseas (200,000)
The total number of day visits is estimated as 22.5 million
Employment Generated by Tourism
It is estimated that 22,573 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) jobs and 30.533 actual tourism related jobs exist which equates to 10% of the workforce.
